About The Author

BevAnn Tyler’s path to writing children’s books began in high school, where a creative writing class revealed her natural ability with language and storytelling. That early foundation stayed with her, and she continued writing poetry and short stories, allowing creativity to remain a consistent presence throughout her life. In 1990, she took a formal step toward children’s literature by completing a course in writing children’s books, earning a certificate that validated her abilities and gave her confidence to pursue storytelling more seriously.

Professionally, BevAnn spent thirty years as a casework manager for the State of Illinois, work that required empathy, patience, and understanding of families facing difficult circumstances. Those years gave her insight into how children process change, loss, and complex emotions, perspectives that inform her writing today. She has been retired for fourteen years, using that time to focus on creative pursuits and family.

BevAnn is the mother of Four grown children and grandmother to five grandchildren, six step grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. Her family has always been her greatest source of inspiration. She shared stories with children throughout her life, testing ideas and watching their reactions, finding joy in their enthusiasm and honest feedback. Those experiences taught her what resonates with young readers and how to craft stories that speak to their understanding of the world.

Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois, BevAnn has lived in Lansing, Illinois for more than twenty years. When she is not writing, she expresses creativity through handcrafted bouquets and decorative gift creations, finding satisfaction in making beautiful things that bring joy to others. Her writing reflects those values, creating books that help children understand themselves, their families, and the changes that shape their lives.
